The Kitchen Pop-up Theatre - The History of Poole Maritime in Thirty Minutes Flat Show

…well, perhaps not all the history…just the tasty bits.

This romp through the maritime history of Poole is seen through the eyes of Galactic interplanetary visitors who resemble Steam Punk space travellers in search of a large Poole of water. It has lively join-in songs, comic interludes, true facts and some not-so-true revelations about the history of Poole and probably the worst jokes available this side of the Milky Way.

The Kitchen Community Pop-Up Theatre presents this show as a prelude to the launch of the main dinner theatre programme in September 2017. This show is written and produced by Idea Cabinet and is part of the Borough of Poole’s Maritime Festival. The 30-minute performance venues include:

Their last project pulled together David Glass and AUB students in a site-specific event based on the movie ‘The Shining’ that sold out for 18 nights at The Chine Hotel. Idea Cabinet makes films, radio and theatrical storytelling happen through their extensive networks of professionals and contacts with our local Universities.

Musical Composer & Director – Harry Skinner

We are thrilled to announce that Harry Skinner, the inspiration and founder of The Producers has agreed to be our Director of Music. It was 25 years and thirteen albums ago that the Producers first appeared on the UK music scene and since then they have gigged their version of the blues in clubs, theatres and on major festival stages worldwide and they continue to do so.

Mary Dale, Founder of Idea Cabinet says:

“We are very pleased to bring together experienced musical theatre talent already living in the region to join with the extraordinary new talent emerging in Dorset to create a Community Pop-Up theatre experience at the stunning Kitchen restaurant in Poole Park and other venues during the Poole Maritime Festival. We have an exciting new story to tell, with some supportive sponsors and I am sure the public will like the new experience. If they do, then we’ll be back in September in our new Kitchen Theatre and at then Christmas with new shows for both families and the business community and we’re planning a New Dorset Writer’s Festival for this time next year.”
